We got our first official snow of the season yesterday. The weather report was only calling for a 30% chance which in Iowa translates to the meteorological equivalent of "Move along, there's nothing to see here". So weren't we surprised when this arrived.
I love snow, I love winter and I will wholeheartedly admit that it's because it gives this introverted the best reasons to stay in my house all day.
Henry was thrilled to get to play in the snow and could only be coaxed inside by the promise of cookies and Halloween candy. After a few hours of warming up inside he was disappointed that it was now too cold and getting too dark for playing outside. The tears that commenced were abated with the suggestion of reading "Snow Books" and luckily for him and my sanity I had pulled out a few just a couple days before. We made it through four of these before he curled up, arm around the cat, fast asleep on the couch.
With a big pot of Golden Potato Soup (mmmm Calories!) simmering on the stove I thought I'd share our first "Snow Books" of the season.
When Winter Comes by Nancy Van Laan
Flannel Kisses by Linda Crotta Brennan
Trouble with Trolls by Jan Brett
The Mitten by Alvin Tresselt
Winter Days In The Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder
Hope you enjoyed a few good books to curl up with on a cold winters night!
